We can safely consider the Baku-Supsa Pipeline to be the project of the century that launched new era and provided guarantee of stability and peace across the South Caucasus, - Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated during his address at the reception marking the 20th anniversary of East-West Energy Corridor.
Prime Minister of Georgia thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade, representatives of British Petroleum and the Ambassadors of partner countries. He also elaborated on the significance of Baku-Supsa pipeline.

"Twenty years later, we witness the rational continuation of the important efforts that were aimed at launching of the "South Energy Corridor". It all was preceded by the Baku-Supsa pipeline - the project that triggered utilization of Georgia's transit potential, entrance of the country into the international arena and formation of its image as an important and reliable transit country. Through this project, Georgia has irrevocably returned and established itself on the world map as a significant, historical country that provides the best transit route from East to West and vice versa", - Prime Minister noted.
Pursuant to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, 20 years ago, Presidents of Azerbaijan and Georgia - Heydar Aliyev and Eduard Shevardnadze adopted a landmark decision of strategic importance - Baku-Supsa Pipeline to be the project of the century that launched new era and provided better guarantee of stability and peace across the South Caucasus.

"20 years ago the first tanker was filled with the oil from Azerbaijan and transported to the West - Europe and today, after the 20 years, we can safely declare that this project entailed numerous important initiatives. Georgia is an important transit country on the EU market in terms of transportation of oil and gas resources. Throughout last years, Georgia and Azerbaijan have set up a strategic partnership with Turkey and developed mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector. As a result, we have obtained major energy related projects, including "South Caucasus Gas Pipeline", "Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan" and of course, "Baku-Tbilisi-Supsa" oil pipelines are examples of success in the field of energy", - Prime Minister noted.
Pursuant to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Georgia fully acknowledges its important role and accountability of transit country and expressed full political support to existing and future energy projects that will ensure diversification of transportation routes of energy resources to Europe and various relevant countries.
Artur Rasizade also elaborated on the friendly relations between the countries. Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Baku-Supsa, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan projects are strategic and international undertakings that bare significant importance for the prosperity of Georgian and Azerbaijani nations and region as a whole.
