During their meeting today at the Administration of the Government of Georgia, Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and EU's Special Adviser for Legal and Constitutional Reform and Human Rights in Georgia Thomas Hammarberg discussed the steps taken in terms of protection of human rights.

The conversation touched upon the human rights situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. Particular attention was paid to the Resolution adopted by the Committee of the Ministers' Deputies of the Council of Europe that addressed the facts of human rights violations in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.

"We had a very interesting meeting with the Prime Minister, where we discussed the human rights situation. I told to the Prime Minister that I am going to Sokhumi to assess the human rights situation. It will be very important for the report that will be published later on. We exchanged our ideas and discussed plans for the future", - Thomas Hammarberg noted after the meeting.

Prime Minister's Adviser for Human rights and Gender equality issues Sopho Japaridze attended the meeting at the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
