The Georgia-Council of Europe 2016-2019 Action Plan and the main issues of Bulgaria-Georgia bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting of Giorgi Kvirikashvili with the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Daniel Mitov and Deputy Secretary General of Council of Europe Gabriela Battaini-Dragoni.

The sides discussed the Georgia-Council of Europe 2016-2019 Action Plan aimed at supporting Georgia in implementing the European Convention on Human Rights and relevant case law at the national level and ensuring compliance of practice of state agencies with the CoE standards.

Prospects of bilateral cooperation of the countries and the role of Bulgaria as a co-chair state of the Council of Europe in the process of Georgia's European integration were also emphasized. Particular attention was paid to the democratic reforms of Georgia, regional security issues and conditions in the occupied territories of Georgia.

Foreign Minister of Bulgaria reasserted unwavering support of the Republic of Bulgaria for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and wished success to the Georgian side in the process of its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Foreign Minister of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze attended the meeting at the Administration of Government of Georgia.
