Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili chaired a recent government session, during which he announced the establishment of state commissions to celebrate the 850th Anniversary of Shota Rustaveli and the 25th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence.
In 2016, Georgia will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence, an event that will be planned by a state commission of government agencies and members of the President's administration. High-level officials from various countries will be invited to the anniversary.
The Prime Minister also responded to His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II's initiative to organize the Georgian Congress in order to include Georgian citizens abroad. He highlighted the need to encourage the Georgian diaspora to engage and participate, and confirmed that the Congress will be planned within the framework of the 25th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence.
