2014-06-17

The next meeting of the government was held today in the administration of government of Georgia. The minister cabinet discussed 33 issues of the agenda, 5 issues were added, 3 issues were postponed for the purpose of further discussion, and 35 issues were confirmed.

Today the members of the government adapted the resolution regarding creation of working group of Georgian cinema development, which will consist of: minister of Culture, minister of foreign affairs, minister of economy and sustainable development, state minister in Diaspora issues and deputy chief of the government administration. At the today's meeting of Government, they discussed the amendment to be made to the Georgian law "on creating and management of protected areas of Tusheti, Batsara-Babaneuri, Lagodekhi and Vashlovani". The current law on Tusheti protected landscape area only considers the possibility of limited agricultural activities that does not include the possibility of using slate stone while the slate stone is the essential construction material both for building houses for the population and for construction of tourist infrastructure for investors which was historically used for construction in order not to violate the landscape of Tusheti protected area. By making the amendment to the law the requirements of local people and investors regarding using the natural resources (particularly, slate stone) will be considered. Permitting the possibility of using slate stone for construction is important for protection of architecture that historically characterizes Tusheti protected areas.

In addition, the amendment was confirmed regarding "the system of protected areas" in the Georgian law. According to paragraph 6 of article 24 of Georgian law, annexed "implementation rule of demarcation of the borders of protected areas" was approved. While implementing demarcation in protected areas, that is, identifying exact coordinates of border perimeter, property of individuals and legal entities are separated from the border of protected areas; the identified borders will be registered in the public registry.
