Government Meeting was held at the Chancellery of the Government of Georgia. Cabinet of Ministers have discussed 27 issues foreseen by the agenda, 9 issues were added and 36 were approved.
The electrification project for the villages without electricity was approved. According to the project "The electricity in every village" - for 2015 there will not be any settlements without electricity in Georgia. The bill on "the Amendments to the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection" was approved today by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers as well. The goal of the abovementioned bill is to ensure the conformity of the personal data process principles and fundaments in Georgia with the European standards and providing effective mechanisms for data protection, the effective activities of the independent supervisory body on protecting the data towards the public and private sector. The bill, according to its goals, provides the refinement and predictability of the legislation in the field of personal data protection, the transparency and accountability of the supervisory body and the creation of the sustainable and the effective mechanisms focused on the human rights protection.
The bill foresees the extension of the special category of data circle, namely, according to European standards such category of data includes the administrative detention, preventive measure, plea bargain, divention, recognition of victim of the crime, as well as, the genetic data. The limitations connected with special category of data is caused due to the sensitive nature of such information, because illegally collection, preservation and distribution of such information creates the danger of violation of private life, persecution, suppression or any other type of discrimination.
