In connection with the spread of the new strain of coronavirus, the Interagency Coordination Council has decided to set certain regulations regarding border crossings for citizens of 8 countries.

Any person, regardless of his/her citizenship who has a travel history to the following countries in the last 14 days, will be subject to a 14-day isolation/quarantine in the quarantine area when entering Georgia.

These countries are:

  • South Africa
  • Botswana
  • Zimbabwe
  • Namibia
  • Lesotho
  • Eswatini (Swaziland)
  • Mozambique
  • Malawi

After completing the 14-day isolation/quarantine, individuals will undergo PCR testing.

In the case of Georgian citizens, quarantine hotel and PCR-test costs are covered by the state, while in the case of foreign citizens - the latter himself/herself.

The decision was taken by the Coordination Council due to the new Omicron strain of coronavirus spread in the mentioned countries and the new regulation will be enforced from November 28, 2021.
