Schooling Resumes from January 18

✅Second term of the 2020-21 academic year resumes on January 18, 2021.

✅Remote mode of teaching resumes in the following cities: Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Telavi, Zugdidi, Zestaponi, Gori, Poti, Marneuli and Gardabani, as well as in the region of Adjara.

✅Schooling continues within classrooms elsewhere in the country.

✅ Schools that have classes in the second term are fully equipped with facemasks, remote contactless thermometers, disinfection mats and solutions for surface cleaning within a wider scope of COVID prevention. Lavatories have been rehabilitated in almost 800 public schools within the country.

✅ With an aim of facilitating a remote mode of teaching, pupils and teachers of both public and private schools will have access to cellular internet at an affordable cost. Internet service providers will be selling 20 GB package for 10 GEL to them, which is 2.5 times less expensive than a standard package. TV School resumes today as well.

It is worth noting that efforts made by the Government of Georgia for a seamless process of education and affordability of gaining knowledge under the pandemic has been recognised at an international level:

✅ Anthony Salcito, Vice President of Microsoft Corporation for Worldwide Education has praised the measures taken by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia in the conditions of COVID-19 crisis towards facilitating a remote mode of teaching and recommended representatives of other countries to gain more knowledge of approaches taken by Georgia.

✅ Georgian Office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF Georgia) has also praised the measures taken by the Government of Georgia in addressing the challenges faced within the education sector of the country.

✅ Head of OECD Education Directorate has named Georgia and Finland as leaders among countries successfully adapting the education system and introducing a remote mode of teaching under COVID-19 crisis.

* The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia offered various platforms of remote teaching, inc. Microsoft Teams and FeedcEdu to schools in the country from the very dawn of the pandemic.
