Possible localized restrictions due to the country's epidemiological situation and the task of keeping the maximal possible number of jobs in this process were the key topics discussed during today's meeting between the Government's economic team and representatives of marketplaces.

The Cabinet Members were briefed in detail by the representatives of marketplaces on the main pandemic-related challenges facing and possible additional restrictions to be imposed to flatten the curve.

Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani emphasized the development of measures that, on one hand, will contain the virus and, on the other, will have a minimal negative impact on the economy.

As it was underlined during the discussion, the Government's main goal in enforcing localized restrictions has been keeping as many jobs as possible. It was also reiterated that no total lockdown is under consideration at this point.

On the Prime Minister's instruction, the Government's economic team led by Vice Prime Minister Maya Tskitishvili continues a series of intensive meetings with private sector representatives.

The meeting was attended by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili, Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani, and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava.
