Meeting of the Government as of January 15, 2013Sittings of the government were held at the Government Chancellery of Georgia on January 15, 2013. There were 39 issues on the agenda. 3 issues were added during the sittings and 5 issues were postponed in order to be studied additionally.
Members of government discussed amendments to Criminal Procedural Code and approved law on "Making amendments in Criminal Procedural Code of Georgia". According to amendments it refers to consent of prosecutor.
As it was explained by Deputy Minister of Justice Aleksandre Baramidze if defendant doesn't want his case to be discussed by jury and if prosecutor and later court agrees with such denial, the case will be discussed by judge but if prosecutor doesn't agree with the denial of defendant, trial jury will discuss the case.
Amendments to Criminal Procedural Code will be initiated in the legislative body in the nearest future.
