Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2012 Year

Meeting of the Government as of June 13, 2012

Meeting of the Government as of June 13, 2012 On June 13, 2012 was held the meeting of the Georgian Government. The agenda included 79 items.

Before the meeting started, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about macroeconomic activities and a new insurance program.
We present the Prime Minister's speech:

"Good day. Before the government meeting starts, I would like to give a piece of information to the public. We have first quarter data of direct investments.

It has reached 270 million dollars in total, which is quite a good number and 60-65% higher than the first quarter index of the last year.

The previous year was quite successful in terms of direct investments, but this year, we have higher indexes.

Direct investments are automatically chained to creation of new jobs.
Direct investments create jobs in Georgia. 60-70% growth of direct investments means that unemployment index will be reduced, as this was last year.

The other issue I would like to mention is a health reform. Several hours ago, I was at Mtskheta new clinic. There are much talks about that new hospitals have been constructed but there are no people as they cannot afford to address them. This is not true!
A part of the public really has a problem to address hospitals, as this is an expensive pleasure (for them), but some part is insured. Mtskheta hospital, where we have been, was almost 100% occupied. The clinic has a capacity of 25 beds and all 25 of them were occupied; they discharged four patients from the hospital this morning and were expecting that the beds would become occupied during the day. Now, additional rehabilitation works are being carried out; 25 beds are being added and the clinic will have a capacity of 50 beds in total.

Affordability for pensioners is very important. It turned out that we have constructed new clinics, which the country has not had so far, but there is a part of population, and quite a big part, who can not address the clinics as they are quite expensive. Respectively, I would like everyone to know that all pensioners will be insured from September 1 of the current year. They will be delivered insurance vouchers, all of them will have the opportunity to use services of these new institutions, new hospitals. This insurance voucher includes a lot of very good services. Most of them imply 10% co-funding, while we have GEL 100 limit in the part of medicines, which implies 50% co-funding.

The purpose of health reform is not only to construct new clinics, but also to make these new hospitals affordable for all parts of the public, especially for those who need this most - pensioners.

I would like all pensioners to know that from September 1, they will be able to use services of all clinics constructed during the recent period. These vouchers will enable them to improve their health conditions".
