Before the meeting started, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about Georgia's role in fighting against corruption and energy security of Europe.

We present the Prime Minister's speech:

"Good day. Before we start discussing the issues on the agenda, I would like to give the public and members of the government a piece of news about the World Economic Forum.
What is important, Georgia was invited to the most significant forum and discussion with respect to energy security and fighting against corruption.

As for fighting against corruption, it can be said that Georgia has already been admitted as one of the important leaders not only in the Post-Soviet space, but also in whole Europe. Significant interest was expressed towards reforms carried out in Georgia in the recent years from representatives of other countries as well as those of private sector.

What is important, the major companies, such as Siemens, as well as West European large companies, consider these reforms as significant part of development of their companies and implementation of future investments in our country.

The second issue was energy security. Georgia plays vary important role for Europe in this respect as well. Various issues were discussed, but our main role with respect to Europe was defined. Several factors are to be taken into consideration. Energy corridor is to be considered, of which Georgia is an integral part. Water resources became more important in our region after Japan's tragedy. There are more countries who declare that they will not construct nuclear power plants any more and close down the existing ones. Georgian water resources are to play more important role.

The matter is that Georgia may play a role of main energy supplier in East Europe in the future.
The forum was very important and very good. Once again, Georgia was introduced as one of the integral parts of the formula of energy security of Europe that will attract more investments to our country."
