Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2011 Year

Meeting of the Government as of February 15, 2011

Meeting of the Government as of February 15, 2011 On February 15, 2011 was held the meeting of the Georgian Government. The agenda included 48 items.

Before the meeting started, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about one of the issues on the agenda. We present the Prime Minister's speech:

"Good day. I would like to single out one of the issues on the agenda which may cause a particular interest of the public. This is a bill on founding of a new fund. While delivering his speech at the Parliament, the President mentioned that the government will try to implement several large-scale investment projects in tight cooperation and partnership with the private sector. With these large-scale investment projects we mean the oil refinery on which we are now working with our Azerbaijan colleagues; the Agricultural Logistic Center and several other large-scale projects that are very important for development of the country's economy. On the other hand, it is very difficult for the private sector to attract and invest large capital independently, without the government assistance. We are planning to found a fund that will be a partnership fund through which, together with the private sector, we will implement several projects that are very important for agricultural development and energy security.

We will discuss the issue at today's government meeting and in the nearest future, we will have a detailed presentation to offer the public. We are planning to involve the private sector in the process of consideration of the issue. We would like this fund to have an investment board formed by representatives of the private sector, with whom it will implement these projects in the nearest future."
