Meeting of the Government as of January 31, 2011

Meeting of the Government as of January 31, 2011 On January 31, 2011 was held the meeting of the Georgian Government. The agenda included 28 items.

Before the meeting started, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about new projects. We present the Prime Minister's speech:

"Good day.

Before we start discussing the issues on the agenda, I would like to give the public and members of the government a piece of news about funding of the Asian Development Bank. As you have already known, quite large investments have been made by international financial institutions during the past years. I mean The World Bank, EBRD, and KFWS. These infrastructural projects were about building highways, local roads, and high-voltage power lines. We have started negotiations on rehabilitation of water supply systems as well. We can also say that negotiations with the Asian Development Bank have come to an end. In sum, a $500 m package will be allocated, spending of which we will start from future months of the present year. These sums shall be spent on perfection, rehabilitation or, in some places, construction of water supply and sewerage systems of regional centers, different cities or settlements.

In the recent period, we have implemented several projects in Poti, Kutaisi, Borjomi, Kobuleti and Batumi. Now, we are beginning more complex and large-scale works, which will serve to improve water supply system almost all over the country."
