Europe Day holds a special place on the list of our annual celebrations, and it does so, above all else, because our country is well on course for EU membership, Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze stated in his speech at today's event celebrating Europe Day.

He wished a Happy Europe Day to the event's guests and emphasized its importance.

"Today is Europe Day. And I join you in this celebration. Europe Day holds a special place on the list of our annual celebrations, and it does so, above all else, because our country is well on course for EU membership. I really hope that this day will come. I think one of the most important things is that we all have asked ourselves as to why we want to become an EU member. We all may have our own answers to this question. I too have one, but today I want to point out one and not the only one, one of the most important things, and it is the development of very close cultural ties between Georgia and the EU member states. We are lucky this year to be able to host exceptional ensembles from equally exceptional countries. I am confident that none of you here leaves unmoved. Once again, thank you so much for being with us. A big thank you to our guests. I hope we will have many more days to celebrate, and I especially hope that we will celebrate the candidate status soon," Revaz Javelidze said.

In his speech, Marcos Granados Gomez, Charge' d'Affaires of Spain to Georgia, thanked the Government of Georgia for organizing excellent Europe Days.

"As Head of Spain's Diplomatic Mission, it is a great honor to greet you at this exceptional event. Firstly, allow me to thank the Government of Georgia for organizing this excellent event. This day is celebrated doubly: as Europe Day and as one marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Spain and Georgia," Charge' d'Affaires of Spain stated.

Organized by the Administration of the Georgian Government, Europe Days are celebrated in Orbeliani Square on May 6-7.

Today, Day of Spain was celebrated as part of Europe Days. A special space set up just for this purpose offered various informative and entertaining activities and installations to the guests. An exposition of traditional attires, an exhibition of flowers, and a photo corner were set up. The guests of Day of Spain were also able to taste Spanish cuisine. Day of Spain concluded with a theatrical performance by the troupe of celebrated Spanish dancer Antonio Gades.

Within the scope of Europe Days, Day of Sweden will be held. To celebrate Day of Sweden, a masterclass will be delivered by Swedish chef Gustav Leonhardt. Together with Gustav Leonhardt, the event's guests will be hosted by Master winner Chef Ruso Daushvili offering traditional Georgian dishes. As part of Day of Sweden, an exhibition and sale of books by Swedish authors will be organized. Day of Sweden will conclude with performances by the Swedish group Riltons Vänner and singer Sofia Karlsson.
