Georgia continues to boast concrete, tangible achievement in international surveys and indices, Head of the Administration of the Georgian Government Ilia Darchiashvili commented on the recent survey by the European Research Centre for Anti-Corruption advancing Georgia to 32nd spot in the global Public Integrity Index, while leading in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and trailing behind only Estonia in the post-soviet space.

In the Public Integrity Index 2021, Georgia is ahead of such countries as Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, and others.

"This study builds on various indicators assessing different states. These include administrative burden, transparency and accountability of state institutions, judicial independence, and freedom of the press," Ilia Darchiashvili said.

The Public Integrity Index 2021, published by the European Research Centre for Anti-Corruption, the world's leading research organization, assesses the integrity of a given state's governance practices, judicial independence, and freedom of the press, also administrative burden, transparency and accountability of state institutions. The Public Integrity Index ranks Georgia 1st in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Georgia has also earned the highest points in the post-soviet space, ranking second only to Estonia. The Public Integrity Index 2019 Georgia was ahead of all three Baltic states, ranking 4th among the post-soviet states.

Conducted once every two years, the Public Integrity Index by the European Research Centre for Anti-Corruption was launched in 2015 and relies on surveys and reports from the UN, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, and other internationally recognized entities and global ranking organizations.
