Competition Commissions select candidates for Heads of Personal Data Protection and Special Investigation Services Print Version

The Competition Commissions, established to select candidates for Heads of the Personal Data Protection and Special Investigation Services, have endorsed three candidates for each position, to be referred to the Prime Minister.

The Competition Commissions have selected Elene Alaverdashvili, Emzar Gagnidze, and Karlo Katsitadze as candidates for Head of the Special Investigation Service, and Kakha Maghradze, Lela Janashvili, and Tamar Alpaidze as candidates for Head of the Personal Data Protection Service. The Head of Government will later refer two candidates for each position to the Parliament of Georgia.

The candidates were selected by vote, following individual interviews with the commissions. The commissions held interviews with candidates meeting qualification requirements and submitting, in full and within deadlines, documentation necessary to participate in the competitions. Consequently, interviews were held with 15 candidates.

The competitions for Heads of the Personal Data Protection and Special Investigation Services were held based on the Georgian Prime Minister's January 17, 2022 Decrees ##5 and 6.

The commissions are chaired by Head of the Government Administration Ilia Darchiashvili, who was elected by the commission members at the first session.

The competition commissions consist of the following:
Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia
Anri Okhanashvili, Chair of the Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia
Giorgi Mikautadze, Deputy Chair of the Supreme Court of Georgia
Bakur Abuladze, First Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia
Giorgi Burjanadze, Deputy Public Defender of Georgia
Karlo Nikoleishvili, Chair of the Board of Non-Entrepreneurial (Non-Commercial) Legal Entity Rights Georgia, joins the Competition Commission for selecting candidates for Head of the Personal Data Protection Service.
