Topical Coordination Workgroup Discusses Human Capital Development by and between Public Institutions and Development Partners Print Version

The Topical Coordination Workgroup held a meeting today to discuss human capital development by and between the engaged public institutions and development partners. Meeting was organized by the Government Administration of Georgia and co-chaired by Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Catalin Gherman, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in Georgia. Ekaterina Dgebuadze, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Tamar Barkalaia, Deputy Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Security of Georgia also participated in the meeting.

Apart from the co-chairs, meeting participants were greeted by Revaz Javelidze, Deputy Head of Government Administration of Georgia and Sabine Makhl, United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Georgia. Meeting focused on the significance of the sector and complex factors of its developments, especially against the background of the current pandemic.

Officials of the respective public institutions reviewed the work performed within their scope of competence, along with achievements and spoke vastly about the sector priorities and needs identified on the way leading to them. Meeting participants discussed such areas, as a reform in the education and science, active policy for the labour market, engagement of the Georgian diaspora, development on the innovative eco-systems, youth policy, arts and sports policy, economic empowerment of women, energy efficiency, professional development of civil servants and healthcare professionals, etc.

Development partners presented their vision on the topics discussed at the meeting and expressed readiness to cooperate in future.

Topical meetings on social welfare, sustainable use of natural resources, economic growth, human resource development, democratic governance, rule of law and justice are held on an annual basis at the Government Administration and are aimed at promoting a strategic dialogue on priority directions of the Government of Georgia by and between the development partners and public institutions of the country.
