Berdia Sichinava: 14,192 tests have been administered throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, with 1,738 new cases and 1,494 recoveries confirmed Print Version

In the past 24 hours, 1,738 new infection cases have been confirmed, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, stated during today's briefing at the Administration of the Government.

He discussed the latest coronavirus statistics and the Government's efforts as of December 30.

"14,192 tests have been conducted throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, including 7,074 antigen tests and 7,118 PCR tests.

Consequently, we have 1,738 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. Since the first outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, we have had a total of 225,893 confirmed cases.

We have 1,494 recoveries in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 210,445.

Unfortunately, 38 people have died in the past 24 hours. Since the outset of the pandemic, we have had a total of 2,481 fatalities.

Of the 1,738 cases identified today, 743 were confirmed in Tbilisi, 115 in Adjara, 301 in Imereti, 123 in Kvemo Kartli, 100 in Shida Kartli, 46 in Guria, 138 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 107 in Kakheti, 32 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 25 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 8 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

Presently, we have 12,941 active infection cases. 5,480 persons are treated in hospitals, including 2,570 in Tbilisi, 488 in Adjara, and 1,055 in Imereti. We have 1,001 severe cases, including 513 in Tbilisi, 101 in Adjara, and 209 in Imereti, of whom 346 are on a ventilator, including 188 in Tbilisi, 29 in Adjara, and 52 in Imereti.

1,223 persons are in clinical hotels, including 458 in Tbilisi, 541 in Adjara, and 85 in Imereti. 6,238 persons are recovering at home.

We have 389 persons in quarantine zones, including 176 in Tbilisi, 78 in Adjara, and 13 in Imereti.
From October 6 through December 29, a total of 21,069 persons have been transported from the state border into quarantine zones.

Presently, 32,670 persons are self-isolating, including 18,745 in Tbilisi, 2,800 in Adjara, and 3,660 in Imereti," Berdia Sichinava said.
