3 837 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press-briefing held today at the Government Administration.

He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of December 15, 2020.

"Within the scope of intensive testing 20 176 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 12 532 were antigen-based express test method and 7 644 PCR.

3 837 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. As we can see, a stable indicator of test-positive cases is now obvious through a doubled testing initiative. Moreover, declining community transfer rate is clearly witnessed in the recent period, which is resulting from the imposed COVID restrictions.

Since the detection of the first case, 194 900 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.

3 105 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 164 786.

Unfortunately, 44 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since February 26 the total death toll has reached 1 883.

Out of 3 837 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 1 461 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 263 - in Adjara, 646 - in Imereti, 245 - in Kvemo Kartli, 262 - in Shida Kartli, 100 - in Guria, 404 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 254 - in Kakheti, 90 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 86 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 26- in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 28 205, out of which 6 710 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 2 890 are stationed in Tbilisi, 819- in Adjara and 1 364 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 1 146 patients, out of which 527 are based in Tbilisi, 146 - in Adjara and 236 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 438 patients, out of which 216are stationed in Tbilisi, 47 - in Adjara and 60 - in Imereti. 2 734 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 836 are based in Tbilisi, 1 336 - in Adjara and 244 - in Imereti. 18 761 individuals are treated at home.

969 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 266 are located in Tbilisi, 168 - in Adjara and 15- in Imereti.

In total, 20 445 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6 through December 14, 2020.

At present, 47 993 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 19 105 are based in Tbilisi, 8 251- in Adjara and 8 251 - in Imereti" announced Berdia Sichinava.
