Berdia Sichinava: 18,907 tests have been conducted throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, with 3,907 new cases and 3,780 recoveries confirmed Print Version

In the past 24 hours, 3,907 new infection cases have been confirmed, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, stated during today's briefing at the Administration of the Government.

He discussed the latest coronavirus statistics and the Government's efforts as of December 12.

"18,907 tests have been conducted throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, including 11,064 antigen tests and 7,843 PCR tests.

Consequently, we have 4,146 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. Since the first outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, we have had a total of 187,006 confirmed cases.

We have 3,780 recoveries in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 154,241.

Unfortunately, 50 people have died in the past 24 hours. Since the outset of the pandemic, we have had a total of 1,744 fatalities.

Of the 3,907 cases identified today, 1,588 were confirmed in Tbilisi, 313 in Adjara, 599 in Imereti, 263 in Kvemo Kartli, 263 in Shida Kartli, 114 in Guria, 299 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 243 in Kakheti, 83 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 94 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 28 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

Presently, we have 30,995 active infection cases. 6,817 persons are treated in hospitals, including 2,925 in Tbilisi, 910 in Adjara, and 1,377 in Imereti. We have 1,165 severe cases, including 529 in Tbilisi, 151 in Adjara, and 267 in Imereti, of whom 442 are on a ventilator, including 209 in Tbilisi, 54 in Adjara, and 59 in Imereti.

3,227 persons are at clinical hotels, including 1,111 in Tbilisi, 1,506 in Adjara, and 307 in Imereti. 20,951 persons are recovering at home.

We have 1,012 persons in quarantine zones, including 280 in Tbilisi, 145 in Adjara, and 28 in Imereti.
Since October 6 through December 12, a total of 20,243 persons have been transported from the state border into quarantine zones.

Presently, 51,190 persons are self-isolating, including 20,098 in Tbilisi, 9,912 in Adjara, and 5,828 in Imereti," Berdia Sichinava said.
