Berdia Sichinava: The Positive Trend in Terms of the Increasing Number of Recoveries Continues; 2,197 People Have Recovered in the Last 24 Hours Print Version

As of today, 1,731 new, confirmed cases of infection have been detected in the last 24 hours, Berdia Sichinava, deputy head of the Task Force operating under the Interagency Coordination Council stated at a briefing at the Administration of the Government.

He discussed the latest statistics on the coronavirus.

"As of today, 1,731 new, confirmed cases of infection have been identified in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 detected in the country since the first case of infection stands at 33,858.

As we have noted, the positive trend in terms of the increasing number of recoveries continues. As of today, 2,197 persons have recovered in the last 24 hours and the total number of recoveries has increased to 14,829.

Unfortunately, 15 people have died in the past 24 hours, including four people in Tbilisi, seven in Adjara, and four in Imereti. A total of 253 people have died since 26 February 2020.

The geographic breakdown of the 1,731 cases of infection that were detected today is as follows: 636 in Tbilisi, 333 in Adjara, 320 in Imereti, 121 in Kvemo Kartli, 76 in Shida Kartli, 18 in Guria, 119 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 45 in Kakheti, 9 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 39 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 15 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

At this stage, the number of active cases of infection stands at 18,750. 4,022 persons are being treated in hospitals, including 2,012 persons in the hospitals of Tbilisi, and 673 in Adjara. 521 patients are seriously ill, including 267 persons in Tbilisi and 73 in Adjara. Of them, 120 people are on ventilators, including 67 persons in Tbilisi and 23 in Adjara. 2,344 people are being treated in COVID hotels, including 824 persons in Adjara and 1,250 in Tbilisi. 12,384 people are receiving treatment at home.

We have 3,507 people in quarantine, including 726 persons in Tbilisi and 1,788 in Adjara.

A total of 9,390 people have been transferred from the border to quarantine between 6 and 27 October.
As of today, 29,001 people are in self-isolation, of which 3,283 persons are located in Tbilisi, 11,793 in Adjara, and 4,072 in Imereti.

These are the statistical data that reflect the current epidemiological situation in the country," Berdia Sichinava stated.
