Natia Mezvrishvili: The Further Imposition of Pinpoint Restrictions Depends on How Well We Will Follow the Rules Print Version

2020-10-28

The further imposition of pinpoint restrictions depends on how well we will follow the rules, Government Administration Head Natia Mezvrishvili stated at a briefing after the session of the Interagency Coordination Council on the coronavirus.

According to her, the higher the degree of compliance with the rules, the less need there will be to impose pinpoint restrictions.

"The process is fully manageable, despite the increasing pattern in terms of the number of infected persons. We can say, with cautious optimism, that the number of recoveries is steadily increasing. Today, the number of recoveries exceeded 2,000, which is a positive trend. The management of the process continues within the process of management and adaptation. Namely, according to the new model of clinical management - which entails the treatment of patients in hospitals, at home, or at COVID hotels - primary healthcare is fully engaged in home treatment and all patients who need to consult a family doctor are receiving the appropriate assistance. As regards the restrictions, we continue on our chosen path of pinpoint restrictions. No new restrictions were imposed by the Council today; however, the further imposition of pinpoint restrictions depends on how well we will follow the rules. The higher the degree of compliance with the rules - meaning the use of face masks and distancing - the less need there will be to impose pinpoint restrictions," Natia Mezvrishvili stated.
According to the head of the Administration of the Government, thanks to the active efforts of the relevant services, the CEC, and epidemiologists, safety during the election process will be fully guaranteed.

"Very important elections are approaching. The relevant services, the CEC, and epidemiologists have been working very actively with regard to the rules and we can confidently say that safety during the election process will be fully guaranteed," Natia Mezvrishvili stated.
As she noted, the rules were developed on the basis of the recommendations of epidemiologists and the elections will be held in a safe environment for both observers and voters.

"These rules were developed on the basis of the recommendations of epidemiologists and just as the observers will be able to observe the elections in a safe environment, so the voters will be able to cast their vote in a safe environment. The maximum was done to ensure that every person has the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, despite the pandemic. The relevant services have carried out a great deal of work and, as a conclusion, we can say that it is safe to go to the elections, and we call on citizens to participate," Natia Mezvrishvili stated.

The head of the Administration of the Government once again called on the citizens to follow the rules as much as possible, including by wearing face masks outdoors as well.

"We continue the process of management and adaptation. The state is enforcing all established regulations, while also controlling enforcement. Naturally, we call on citizens to follow the rules as much as possible, including by wearing face masks outdoors as well, as this is directly related to slowing down the spread of the virus," Natia Mezvrishvili stated.
