Another Session of the Gender Equality Commission of the Human Rights Council was Held in an Expanded Format in the Administration of the Government, With the Participation of Members of Non-Governmental and International Organizations Print Version

National referral procedures for identifying, protecting, assisting, and rehabilitating victims of violence against women and domestic violence, post-shelter programs for the economic empowerment of the victims of violence, the elimination of childhood marriage practices, and response mechanisms for sexual harassment - these are the issues that were discussed at the session of the Interagency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women, and Domestic Violence, which was held in an expanded format at the Administration of the Government.

Commission members briefed nongovernmental organizations and international partners on the ongoing work. While discussing future steps, the special importance of focusing on the prevention of violence against women and domestic violence was noted. The need for public engagement in responding to violence was stressed during the meeting.

International cooperation, within the framework of which Georgia will share its experience with other European countries, was also discussed during the session.

According to the Gender Equality Commission of the Human Rights Council of the Prime Minister, mechanisms for responding to sexual harassment in public institutions will be established.
