Meeting of the Thematic Group of Donor Coordination on Sustainable Management of Natural Resources Print Version

Today the Government of Georgia held a meeting with the representatives of donor countries and international organizations to update them on the reforms implemented in the field of sustainable management of natural resources. The session held at the Radisson Hotel also aimed at augmentation of the efficiency of foreign aid.
The agenda of the event covered wide range of issues including protection of natural resources, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and harmonization of Georgian regulations with the EU legislation, as well as "clean", "green" and "reasonable" approaches. The participants also discussed renewable energy resources, the role of the infrastructural projects in the process of sustainable management of natural resources, disaster risk reduction, waste management and water supply policy.

Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Georgia Eka Grigalava and Head of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency in Georgia, Molly Liens co-chaired the meeting.
The Government of Georgia holds six thematic coordination meetings on an annual basis to address various key policy areas, such as sustainable management of natural resources, economic growth, HCD, social welfare, rule of law as well as justice and democratic governance.
