Prime Minister’s Assistant Participates in Regional Conference Print Version

The Prime Minister's Assistant on Gender Equality and Human Rights Issues Sopo Japaridze participated in the regional conference "Socially Inclusive Rural Development in Europe and Central Asia: Action for the 2030 Agenda".

The conference sought to demonstrate, based on best practice, how policies on agriculture and rural development can meet the needs of rural populations, improve their sources of income, and generally boost sustainable social and economic development.
Sopo Japaridze's report involved the economic empowerment of rural women and steps taken by the state in this direction at the legislative and practical levels. In her speech, she emphasized gender mainstreaming in policy-making documents, relevant achievements and challenges.

The Prime Minister's Assistant also spoke of the nationalization of sustainable development goals and the process of empowering institutional gender equality mechanisms in the executive.
The two-day conference in Vilnius was organized by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the European Institute for Gender Equality.
