Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of January 27, 2010

Meeting of the Government as of January 27, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on January 27, 2010 . The Agenda covered 77 items

Prior to the Meeting Mr. Nika Gilauri, the Prime Minister, talked about the health reform and a new presentation of the Ministry of Finance.

"Tomorrow we, together with the Ministry of Health and other representatives of the same field, will have a meeting with the President of Georgia. We will discuss in detail all the plans to be implemented this year. I would like to note that at present we are talking over rather interesting matters in this direction.

As per the insurance reform - from 2010 the State will provide each newly insured person with a different package, which will include co-financing of a certain amount of medicaments. As far as you know, co-financing of medicaments has not been available till now; the package only covered certain services. It will be a 3-year insurance package.

Furthermore, the Program for 100 Hospitals will be modified a little. There will be certain novelties with regard to the Program in the near future. As we are going to adopt new standards this year, the insurance companies will build 15-20-25-bed hospitals and clinics in the regions. We will witness the "boom" of the clinic building in the regions and districts. The Program will also cover rehabilitation of current hospitals.

As per the second issue, which will be interesting to the community, is the presentation prepared by the Ministry of Finance. I would like to note that businessmen and importers are likely to take great interest in the same matter. Certain obstacles when crossing the customs office will be cleared. Sometimes such obstacle was the requirement to present a Phyto-Vet document, sometimes there were weighing problems. I would like to state that from this year such problems will be resolved and the time required by importer for customs procedures will be considerably reduced.

We are carrying on effecting reforms and in several months we will have a completely renewed structure, whereto other rules will be applicable, which will make it easy for businessmen, importers and investors to carry out activities in this field.

Furthermore, there is another interesting issue to discuss. Last year we started electronic filing of declarations. At the beginning not many companies were involved in the procedure. This procedure means that a company does not have to go to the Ministry of Finance and deliver a declaration in hand. For the last months we have made a serious progress in this field and 80% of declarations are now filed electronically." - Nika Gilauri declared.
