On October 24, 2010, the Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri went on his business trip to China.
On October 26, the Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri met with Zhang Dejiang, the Vice-Prime Minister of the Chinese government. At the meeting the parties considered the wide range of economic and political issues.
The governments of both countries are satisfied with friendly relations between them and common views in most of the issues of international diplomacy. Besides, as it was noted during the meeting, the economic relations between both countries develop in a successful manner; however, the potential of further growth is large.
The Vice Prime Minister of China noted that the Chinese government stimulates and calls on the Chinese companies to deepen cooperation with Georgia and make investments there.
Nika Gilauri proposed to support direct air flights between two countries, which promotes the tourism and investors' visits between Georgia and China. The Chinese side thinks to use the airport of Tbilisi as the transit point for flights made from China to Europe.
Besides, the Parties discussed the matter regarding the construction of wholesale market in Tbilisi by Chinese Companies, whic
h may provide the whole region with goods.
At the meeting, issues in connection with the cooperation in energy sector were considered.
"There are several projects to be carried out: the logistic centre in Georgia for Chinese companies in order to simplify the trade between China and Europe and create the working places in Georgia. There is talk about broadening the Potisis Port, theoretically, to establish new enterprises in free industrial zone, which conduct trade with the countries of Eastern Europe, with Turkey and make the Chinese investments "- the Prime Minister declared.
Later Nika Gilauri held meetings with the authorities of Chinese companies China International Water & Electric Corporation, Free Trade Zone of Quingdao, Sino Hydro Corporation, China 
Railway Construction and Gezhouba Group in Beijing. At the meetings thereof they discussed the issues regarding the construction of hydro-electric power stations in Georgia, implementation of transport infrastructure projects and active using of transit potential of Georgia.
On October 27, the Prime Minister Nika Gilauri met with the authorities of Development Bank of China in Beijing. During the me
eting it was solved that the delegation of the Bank would arrive in Georgia and learn economic situation of our country on-site. It's possible that Chinese Bank will establish its representative office in Tbilisi.
The meeting was also held at the office of Chinese gigantic Poly Group Corporation, which produces various high tech goods and owns several TV channels and networks of cinema.
Furthermore, The Prime Minister of Georgia delivered his speech at business-forum convened in Beijing, and he suggested business-climate of Georgia to Chinese businesspersons and called upon to make investments in Georgian economy.
It was solved that business-council of Georgia-China would be created, which work on economic issues interesting for both of the sides.
On October 27, Nika Gilauri went to Shanghai together with Georgian government delegation at the international exhibition World Expo. The pavilion of Georgia where the tourism potential of our country is highlighted is very popular with visitors.
According to the estimates of Chinese side, the exhibition where world countries are represented has been visited more than 70 million people from its opening to now.
"More than 700 000 people have visited the Georgian pavilion for last 6 months, which is very important, because more people have learned about history and culture of Georgia, they have learned that there is the country called Georgia with great history and culture, and of course, this additionally stimulates the indigenous population as well visitors to arrive in Georgia. We've chosen two main directions- wine and tourism. Because potentially Chinese market is one of the best and growing markets for wine, and we believe, that we will 
increase export in China"- Nika Gilauri noted.
The Georgian delegation visited to the pavilions of China, Singapore, Japan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
The Prime minister met with the president of Shanghais stock market in global-financial centre of Shanghais, and also authorities of Huawei in the company of telecommunication networks.
In China they expressed more interests in Georgia than we expected, perhaps this interest is caused because of the political decision from Chinese side to make Chinese investments and conduct their business in Georgia. This was clear at the meeting with Vice Prime Minister as well at the 
meeting with Minister of Transport and also what is the most important at the meeting with Ministry of Commerce, there is decision to make Chinese investments in Georgia. We saw several specific examples and we had specific negotiations with those enterprises which are interested to conduct their business in Georgia. They talk about several hundred million dollars investment, As well broadening of the Potisi Port, establishing new trade centre and making other investments.

Nika Gilauri went to India after visiting Shanghais. In Mumbai he participated in the forum "Invest in Georgia" under Financial Times and met 
with Indian businesspersons. Nika Gilauri made his speech at the forum and talked about economic and political development of Georgia.
As the Prime Minister noted "All the people who participate in this forum have the specific sentence with regard to Georgia, they haven't come just to hear about Georgia. It turned out that they have some information about our country and now have the specific proposals. We've already held meetings, face-to face meetings. Some are interested in building new metallurgical factory, some are interested in building new Ferro factory, so they talk about large enterprises by which they will conduct trade with our region and as well they will create additional working places. They like the model we suggest."
