Government of Georgia – Appearance 2009

The Prime Minister nominated a new Minister Dimitri Shashkin

09 February, the Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri put up a candidate of Dimitri Shashkin before the employees of the newly created Ministry of Penitentiary, Probation and Legal Assistance of Georgia. Nika Gilauri explained the objectives of the Ministry. "One of the main directions for me and the renewed Government is establishment of close relations with the society, NGOs and the opposition. Dialogue and exchange of views therewith are the very issues which are less successful for the Government despite its many attempts during this period of time. Thus, a person engaged in NGO, and not taking part in political activity becomes a member of the Cabinet of Minister. Please be advised that he will be the Head of this group. I will sign the order in two days. During his tenure of the Minister he will follow the two directions: establishment of a dialogue with the opposition and NGOs. He will also head the newly created Ministry and, thus, he will have to settle many problems. So, I wish him and you good luck in the joint events", said Nika Gilauri to the employees of the newly established Ministry.
