On April 3, 2007 was held the Meeting of the Government of Georgia. The agenda included 49 items.

Upon the beginning of the Meeting the Prime Minister of Georgia summarized in brief the results of the first quarter of the current year and noted that the budget plan is exceeded by 225 million GEL and as compared with the same period of the past year the revenues are mobilized by 50% more. He underscored that value added turnover of enterprises increased by almost 49%, the payroll fund of the private sector increased by 52.1 % that is the most important among those results which we have had in the beginning of the current year. This year were established about 12500 new enterprises and in consideration of such tendencies will be created about 85-90 thousands new working places. Based on these results, said the Prime Minister of Georgia, we begin to discuss the question of making amendments in the state budget for 2007. Parallel will take place discussion on the main parameters of the state budget for 2008.

March was the deflation month - by 1.1 %, though the three-month rate is still high and makes 2.4 %. However, the 12-month inflation rate was lower than a two-digit figure - 9.7%. This is a very significant factor in the development of the economy of Georgia. Our goal is to keep and to reinforce the rate of growth of the economy in the first quarter which makes up about 12-13% and to attract more investment capital both form the resources inside the country and from abroad, - stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.
