Zurab Noghaideli Meets Jean de Ponton d'Amécourt

On August 23, Wednesday, at the Chancellery of the Government the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli received the Secretary of Defense for Policy and Strategic Affairs of the Ministry of Defense of France Jean de Ponton d'Amécourt.

The discussion covered the actual issues of cooperation between Georgia and France.

Zurab Noghaideli thanked the guest for that assistance in the formation of the Georgian defense affairs provided by the Government of France. He, in particular, mentioned the Sachkhere mountain training school which was established with the assistance of the French party and which opening was attended by Mr. d'Amécourt.

The Prime Minister underscored that the cooperation with France is very important for Georgia not only in the bilateral but in the all-Europe cooperation format.

The parties also talked about the course of integration of Georgia in NATO. They expressed a hope that on September 21 at the North-Atlantic Council planned in New-York the issues on the validation of the regime of intensive dialogue with Georgia will be solved positively.
