Government of Georgia – Appearance 2006

On September 6 the International Financial Corporation of the World Bank published the results of this year research "Doing Business in 2007" according to which Georgia was declared the reformer N1-country. The research studies in details the current entrepreneurial environment in 175 countries and the course of economic reforms in them (for improvement of entrepreneurial environment).

In addition to the pace of reforms this organization publishes the list of the countries where doing business is the easiest. From the 112th place in the last year this year Georgia moved to the 37th place.

Currently, the researches of the International Financial Corporation focused on the following spheres:

1. Business registration (starting);
2. Licenses and permits;
3. Labor relations;
4. Property registration;
5. Availability of credit resources;
6. Protection of investors;
7. Trade relations with foreign countries;
8. Tax system;
9. Legal issues related to the doing business;
10. Business closing (bankruptcy and reorganization).

The Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli and the World Bank manager in private sector promotion Simeon Djankov spoke about this matter at the press conference, held in the Chancellery of the Government on September 11.
