On 12 September, the State Representative of the President and the Government of Georgia in Shida Kartli, Mikheil Kareli was removed from the post he had been holding. The Prime Minister of Georgia, Zurab Noghaideli made a commentary in this connection: "The behavior of the State Representative and the Governor of Shida Kartli which took place during the special operation undertaken there, has caused our indignation. Instead of helping the police and expressing his own indignation against the facts of corruption, he in fact, tried to prevent enforcement of justice and law, which of course, commanded further reaction on our behalf. The president and I discussed this issue and consequently, we took the decision on dismissing Mikheil Kareki from the post of the State Representative and the Governor of Shida Kartli.
