Government of Georgia – Appearance 2008

Vladimer Gurgenidze and Ruben Jeffrey met with the mass media representatives

On August 27, 2008, at the Embassy of the United States in Georgia, the Prime Minister Vladimer Gurgenidze and the head of the US Delegation, Deputy Head of the State Secretary on the Business, Economic and Agriculture Issues, Ruben Jeffrey held a meeting with the mass media representatives.

The prime minister of Georgia welcomed the American delegation and emphasized that since August 11, a dialogue has been launched between Georgia and US on the issue of economic aid. According to his words, similar process is undergoing with the European friends as well.

As Vladimer Gurgenidze also noted, restoration and rehabilitation of the infrastructure was the main topic of discussions with the American counterparts including a whole set of measures which will enhance Georgia's integration with the economically developed world community.

"It should be noted, that Georgia's economy has manifested a very high level of stability which despite the recent developments, yet continues functioning very effectively and it will keep this pace forth. The most important feature worth underlining is that in the course of last two weeks our economy showed a high limit of strength and flexibility, as well as dynamism, which is the main characteristic feature of market economy", - the prime minister asserted.
