Prime Minister Attends the Opening of Prison Hospital

On 18 November today, the Prime Minister of Georgia attended the opening of a medical facility for convicts and prisoners in Gldani. The construction of the facility started in 2006. Now the facility is ready to operate in full swing.

The medical facility for convicts and prisoners is part of Prison Facility N8 of the Penitentiary Department. The new, multi-profile inpatient clinic is set up with modern equipments. The facility is designed to handle 244 patients. The hospital has a fully set up surgery unit, where modern equipments support bloodless surgery.

"It is very important that such facilities open, as we must care equally for those in and out of prison. Next year, we are going to have increased healthcare system financing that will enable us to provide better care in medical facilities of the penitentiary system," Grigol Mgaloblishvili said.
