With an aim of uninterrupted flow and further acceleration of the immunization process, Mass Vaccination Centers will need to be prepared by the end of the current week. It was the instruction given by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia to the relevant institutions at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council Meeting held today at the Government Administration.

In addition, as also instructed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, applicable measures will be taken in the near future to increase the public access to vaccines and to maximize its coverage in regions.

As already known, overall 2 million doses of COVID vaccines authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) from 4 manufacturers have been mobilized in the country. As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, it is vital to further accelerate the vaccination process to enable the citizens to get immunized without prior registration, through an actual queue. It was highlighted at the Council Meeting that the highest daily indicator of vaccination was witnessed in the past 24 hours with 13 800 individuals, while 14 300 are scheduled today.

Focus of the Council was made on the current situation in the hospital sector. It was noted that increasing community transfer rate leads to high burden on the clinical sector and it results in permanent mobilization of additional beds as well as on the optimization of the currently available ones. In addition, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia continues to mobilize additional clinical hotels and rooms under the instructions of the Prime Minister of Georgia to make sure that isolation of the infected individuals continues in an effective manner and to disconnect the viral transmission chain.

It was noted at the Council Meeting that the Government of Georgia follows the current epidemic trends with great attention and makes relevant steps to effectively manage the situation.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council once again urges the citizens of the country to adhere to the current regulations in parallel with the vaccination, by keeping social distance and wearing the facemasks indoors, public transport and concentrated outdoors. As commonly known, Government Decree still prohibits such social events both outdoors and indoors as wedding parties, funeral dinners, jubilees of various types, etc.

Since the first detection, 407 689 lab-proven cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the country so far, out of which 376 088 individuals recovered and 5 731 died. Currently, 64 individuals are kept in quarantine, 1 763 - at clinical hotels, while 5 185 - at hospitals under medical supervision.

Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by the Prime Minister of Georgia actively engages the Parliament of Georgia chaired by MP Kakha Kuchava and Administration of the President of Georgia.
