Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, as part of the latter's official visit to Georgia.

The parties discussed the close partnership and years-long friendship between Lithuania and Georgia.

Irakli Garibashvili informed Gabrielius Landsbergis about the dire situation in Georgia's occupied territories and thanked him for firm support of Georgia's territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Special attention was paid to Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration and Lithuania's strong support on this path. According to the Head of Government, integration into the EU is the unwavering choice of the Georgian authorities and people, and Georgia is preparing to apply for EU membership in 2024. The Georgian Government appreciated Lithuania's strong support for Georgia on the path to European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Irakli Garibashvili added.

The conversation also touched on the two countries' close cooperation across a variety of areas, underlining the importance of further deepening economic relations, especially toward overcoming the global crisis arising from COVID-19.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Lithuania for providing Georgia with humanitarian assistance in the fight against coronavirus, also pointing out the decisive importance of the friend country's help in securing access to vaccines, in that vaccination and joint efforts invested by states are of crucial importance for overcoming the pandemic.
