I applaud your Government because your reforms are really remarkable, President Doris Leuthard of the Swiss Confederation stated during today's meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
The parties discussed the development of bilateral relations in a number of directions.
The Prime Minister thanked Switzerland for supporting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty and its role as a mediator in Georgia-Russia relations.
"Madame President, I am very pleased to host the President of a country which is, first of all, a great friend for Georgia, and also a very important one. I am very glad that we have this opportunity. Firstly, let me thank you for supporting Georgia, Georgia's aspirations, territorial integrity and sovereignty, and for playing an important role for Georgia in engaging in discussions about the political resolution of the conflicts after 2008. We really appreciate it. We are very glad and welcome the rising bilateral connections between Switzerland and Georgia. We are very glad to notice also the increasing trade and investments, and it is something we are committed to build a full-fledged bilateral partnership with your country. I am very grateful that you promised to visit and now you are here in Georgia," Giorgi Kvirikashvili addressed Doris Leuthard.
The President of the Swiss Confederation spoke about ways further to deepen bilateral relations.
"Mr. Prime Minister, dear Giorgi, it is also a pleasure for me, because we had a good discussion in Davos, and I promised you to come to Georgia. Now we have the 25 years celebration of our diplomatic relations. As you mentioned, Switzerland is very happy about this mandate as it is trying to facilitate dialogue between Georgia and Russia. I applaud your Government because the reforms undertaken by you are really remarkable. During this visit we will look further what we can improve in our bilateral relations," Doris Leuthard stated.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili introduced the President of the Swiss Confederation to the details of the Government's four-point agenda, the country's economic statistics and leading positions I international rankings.
During the meeting, the importance of sharing Switzerland's experience in education reform and the development of mountainous areas was also emphasized.
