Open Contest Announced for the Vacant Position in the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission (GNERC) Print Version

Giorgi Pangani, Member of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission (GNERC) is approaching the end of his tenure on October 27, 2021.

In line with Article 20 of the Law of Georgia on Energy and Water Supply, an open contest is announced for the vacant position of a Member of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission (GNERC) from July 26, 2021.

The Selection Commission established by the Government of Georgia ensures the organization and holding of the contest. The Selection Commission consists of 5 members, out of which at least 3 are independent members.

Citizens of Georgia with a degree education are eligible to apply for the vacant position of a Member of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission (GNERC) through the open contest.

Following documents should be submitted by applicants of the open contest announced for the vacant position of a Member of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission (GNERC).

(a) Application made in writing;

(b) One photo image;

(c) Resume;

(d) Document evidencing the degree education;

(e) Document evidencing at least 10 years of work experience;

(f) Written statement evidencing that the applicant has read the terms and conditions of work ethics and conflict of interest set for the GNERC Member under the legislation of Georgia;

(g) Reference Letters if available.

Applications are admitted through August 14, 2021.

The Selection Commission ensures scrutiny of documents submitted by the applicants of the open contest and defines whether they are complete. According to the decision of the Selection Commission Members, applicants may be requested to submit additional documents within the timeframe defined by the Selection Commission.

Within 10 days from the deadline of applications, the Selection Commission ensures the scheduling of interviews with applicants on the grounds of the assessment of their qualifications, skillset, professional experience, motivation and reputation. Interviews with applicants are scheduled by the decision of the Selection Commission.

If only one person applies to the open contest, the Selection Commission may extend the deadline of applications for another 30 days.

The Selection Commission nominates the candidate selected on the grounds of the contest to the Government of Georgia and will seek an agreement on the nomination. The Government of Georgia expresses its consent and nominates the selected individual to the President of Georgia, who submits the nomination to the Parliament of Georgia with a co-signature of the Prime Minister of Georgia.

If the Government of Georgia fails to express its consent on the individual nominated by the Selection Commission or if the Parliament of Georgia does not elect the nominated GNERC Member, a selection contest is held anew.
