The situation is under control, and the Government is keeping the process in check, Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council Giorgi Ghibradze commented on today's decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, during a briefing at the Administration of the Government.

The Head of the Task Force spoke about the Interagency Coordination Council's latest decisions.

"As you know, infection rates have been growing both globally and in Georgia. Along with infection rates, we see an increase in hospitalization cases. Consequently, the Health Ministry, on the Prime Minister's instructions, has developed a plan for mobilizing additional hospital beds and managing supplies of medications, oxygen, and tests, allowing us to assert that the country is ready even for the worst-case scenario. The situation is under control, and the Government is keeping the process in check.

On the Interagency Coordination Council's decision, and in light of the epidemiological situation, testing will carry over into May, with state financing, among groups defined in the Government's decree.

As for the upcoming Feast of Easter, as a result of communication with the Patriarchate of Georgia, it has been decided to hold the Divine Liturgy in churches in compliance with epidemiological safety norms, including PA systems installed on church premises, and social distancing and facemask use observed.

Also, as an exception, the current restriction on movement will be amended just for one night, namely to apply from 11 PM, May 1 to 4 AM, May 2, in light of the upcoming Easter Liturgy.

On the Interagency Coordination Council's decision, visits to cemeteries will be restricted through the upcoming holidays, with roads to cemeteries blocked.

May 4-11 have been declared public holidays in Georgia in order to reduce mobility, the reason why, on the decision of the Coordination Council, municipal transport will be suspended from May 3 through May 12.

At the same time, active vaccination will continue in line with the national vaccination plan. In light of World Immunization Week, Members of Georgia's Cabinet and Parliament will engage in the process of vaccination starting this week.

Relevant agencies will further maintain strict control over compliance with the restrictions applicable throughout the country.

The Interagency Coordination Council continues to monitor epidemiological trends, making further decisions based on the situation's thorough analysis," Giorgi Ghibradze said.
