Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri presents a renewed composition of the Government of Georgia to Parliament On 2 July 2010, Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri presented to the Parliament a renewed composition and action plan of the Government of Georgia, with national unification and poverty reduction being the priorities.

Delivering a speech before the Parliament members, Nika Gilauri said that the core political goal of the Government is to peacefully restore the territorial integrity of the country and become a NATO member.

As for the Government's economic goals, Nika Gilauri said poverty reduction was the prime concern of the executive branch of government. He said that despite the country has not yet beaten poverty, as a result of reforms in recent years the average pay has quadrupled and the average annual economic growth has accounted for eight percent.

The Prime Minister said that the year 2010 started hope inspiringly, with the economic growth accounting for 4.5% in the first quarter.

"I hope that we'll have at least 4.5% growth this year," he said before the Parliament members.

In Nika Gilauri's opinion, the Government must work better to help attract investments into the country, on which the economic development of the nation heavily depends.

According to the new action plan, the Government's priorities include protection and inviolability of private property, reduction of budget deficit, passing economic freedom acts, further reducing the already low level of corruption, development of open economy, drawing investments into various sectors, etc.
