Government of Georgia – Appearance 2007

Vladimer Gurgenidze visited the GIPA

On December 17, the Prime Minister of Georgia Vladimer Gurgenidze visited the Georgian Institute of Public Relations (GIPA), where he met with the journalists and the students of the institute. The prime minister extended his gratitude to the authorities of the institute for inviting him and emphasized, that this form of holding meetings is modern and effective, as well as direct and interactive.

At the meeting, Vladimer Gurgenidze spoke about his own vision of the action plan that is required by the current political situation in Georgia. "The most important is a new social policy and relevant accents were articulated by the candidate for presidency Mikheil Saakashvili yesterday. A concrete action plan is related to this which is reflected in the budget for 2008. The budget will be presented before the parliament for further review during these days. All this is necessary to alleviate the negative background among our society and cultivate the feeling that Georgia and the Georgian society is based on solidarity principles, and this is an unshakable course that we will maintain. The reforms and the course of the country in general will never prove successful unless we manage to involve all social strata in the process. We are going to that because another alternative is absence of the feeling of bright future among our population and growth of the numbers of our Diaspora at the expense of our young people, rather than decreasing it. Therefore, it can't be that our long-term interests would include tolerance to such a situation", - the prime minister emphasized.

The meeting proceeded in the question and answer regime.
