Irakli ChikovaniIrakli Chikovani was born on the 28th of August, 1980 in Zugdidi, Georgia. In 2002 he graduated Tbilisi State University with specialty of International Law with honor. In 2005 he graduated NATO Defense College (Rome, Italy).

Irakli Chikovani launched his public service at Defense Ministry in 2000. Till 2004 he occupied various positions at Defense Policy and International Relations Department of Defense Ministry. By the end of 2004 he continued his career as a Director of State and Public Security Department of National Security Council.
In 2006 he joined diplomatic service as a Head of Human Resources Management Department at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

He also worked as a Director of Department of International Law until he was appointed as a Deputy Permanent Representative of Georgia to UN in January, 2007.

In 2009 he resigned from the position of Deputy Permanent Representative of Georgia to UN and involved in political activities.

In 2009-2011 he worked as a General Secretary at the party "Free Democrats".

In 2011-2014 he was a member of Political Council of the ruling coalition "Georgian Dream".

In 2012 Irakli Chikovani was elected as a Member of Parliament on the party list of the political coalition "Bidzina Ivanishvili - Georgian Dream". In the Parliament of the eighth convocation he was Chairman of the faction, as well as Member of the Foreign Relations Committee and the Defense and Security Committee; Member of permanent delegations to the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council and NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

In 2016-2018 Irakli Chikovani participated in various international projects as an independent expert of international relations on the issues of security and law-making activity.

In 2018-2020, at first, he was an adviser to Prime Minister of Georgia in strategic communications direction, then an adviser to Prime Minister in the issues of international relations.

In the parliamentary elections in 2020, he won as a candidate of the party "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" in the majority constituency of Zugdidi Municipality. In the Parliament of the tenth convocation he is a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and Defense and Security Committee; Head of permanent delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of European Council.

Since 2021 he is a member of Political Council of "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia".

In November, 2023 he was elected as a Deputy Chairman of Parliament of Georgia.

Since the 9th of February, 2024 Irakli Chikovani is Defense Minister, Vice Prime Minister of Georgia. He has been granted the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and the rank of First Class State Counselor.

Irakli Chikovani has a wife and three children.
