According to the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, which operates under the leadership of the Prime Minister, quarantine restrictions will be lifted in the town of Mestia and in Lenjeri from 2 September. At the moment, the final phase of universal testing is underway at these locations. It was noted during the session of the council that as a result of timely and effective measures, the epidemiological situation in the town of Mestia and in Lenjeri is fully under control.

During the session of the Interagency Coordination Council, which was held today at the Administration of the Government, it was emphasized that in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus it is necessary to maintain a gradual approach for the purpose of reducing mobility, as evidenced by international examples.

According to the council's decision, public and private kindergartens will resume operation after a two-week interval from the opening of public schools (15 September), i.e., from 1 October. In addition, it was noted that work is underway with higher education institutions concerning the gradual resumption of the education process.

Another important decision made by the members of the council today concerns the opening of cinemas and theaters. According to the decision, cinemas will open from 15 September, and theaters will open after a two week interval, i.e., from 1 October.

It was also emphasized during today's session of the council that active testing is underway at Georgia's seaside resorts. It was noted that temporary medical stations have been set up, where anyone can get tested for COVID-19 for free.

The Interagency Coordination Council urges local residents and tourists to take advantage of this opportunity and to get tested in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

As of today, 1,436 laboratory-confirmed cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Georgia, of which 1,150 persons have already recovered. Forty-one Georgian citizens have been repatriated from foreign countries for treatment. Nineteen persons have died.

At this stage, 6,010 persons are in quarantine, while 236 persons are hospitalized under medical observation.
The Parliament of Georgia, headed by Chairman Archil Talakvadze, and the Administration of the President are actively involved in the work carried out by the Interagency Coordination Council, which operates under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
