Government of Georgia Sets Border Crossing Restrictions for its Citizens and Foreign Individuals, thereby Suspending Direct Flights with Italy
2020-03-06 Inter-Agency Coordination Council on the New Coronavirus COVID-19) led by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia held its subsequent meeting today. Head of Government of Georgia received information at the Council Meeting on the current health condition of 9 patients infected with COVID-19 and current general epidemic situation observed throughout the world. It was noted at the meeting that health condition of infected patients is satisfactory. Coordination Council has been briefed that 162 individuals remain in quarantine at this stage. New resolution has been made by the Council Members within the scope of measures designed to prevent a further spread of COVID-19: 1. Border crossing restrictions have been set both for citizens of Georgia and foreign individuals. Namely: Government of Georgia calls upon the citizens of the country to refrain from travelling in the countries classified by the WHO as of definite epidemic risk (China, South Korea, Italy, Iran). Inter-Agency Coordination Council will continue holding regular meetings with an aim of information exchange and coordinated action. It was noted again at the meeting today that there is no reason to panic in the country and that Government of Georgia has the process under its overwhelming management. The Government has set up a special website - www.stopcov.ge to inform the public about Coronavirus.
