World Bank to Support Georgia’s Human Capital Development Efforts

Steps toward supporting Georgia's far-reaching educational reform and innovation development were discussed by Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and Sebastian Molineus, the World Bank's Regional Director for the South Caucasus, during today's meeting under the Batumi International Conference.

Special emphasis was placed on the close cooperation between the Government of Georgia and the World Bank, along with the investment projects implemented in Georgia with financial support from the World Bank.

The Head of Government provided the World Bank's Regional Director with detailed information about the far-reaching educational reform to be carried out in the country, which involves spending 6% of GDP (quarter of the state budget) annually on said sector.

The parties emphasized the importance of human capital development. According to Sebastian Molineus, the World Bank will support the Georgian Government's efforts in this direction to help the country transform into the regional leader.

The meeting also emphasized the need to promote innovation development, and commended the Georgian Government's reforms in this direction.
