Georgian Prime Minister’s Meeting with Bulgarian President
2019-04-16 Bulgaria fully supports Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic aspiration, territorial integrity and sovereignty, President Rumen Radev of the Republic of Bulgaria stated during today's meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze. Special emphasis was placed on the friendly relations between Georgia and Bulgaria, and prospects of deeper political cooperation and economic ties. President Radev singled out the priority status of the Black Sea region for Bulgaria, and the country's commitment to supporting every project tapping into the communications and transport potential of the Black Sea. The dialogue emphasized the role of the Intergovernmental Commission and its work in further deepening trade and economic ties. The parties discussed prospective projects promising to ensure the effective use of relevant opportunities. The meeting pointed out prospects of developing ferryboat transportation to cement the ties between Georgian and Bulgarian seaports. The President of Bulgaria and the Prime Minister of Georgia also discussed possibilities of developing a new digital corridor between the two countries to link the east and the West. The discussion also touched on regional challenges, the situation in Georgia's occupied territories, and the Georgian Government's peace initiatives. The Georgian side thanked Bulgaria for firmly supporting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. The Head of Georgian Government congratulated President Rumen Radev on the 140th anniversary of the adoption of the first Constitution of Bulgaria, celebrated on April 16.
