On Prime Minister’s Instructions, Intersectoral Coordination Council to Present Action Plan for Monitoring Blood Lead Level in Children in Near Future
2019-03-28 As Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated during the briefing before today's Government meeting, the Intersectoral Coordination Council will, in the nearest future, present the Action Plan for Monitoring Blood Lead Level in Children. Serious environmental issues were discussed by the Council a few days ago, the Head of Government said. On the Prime Minister's instructions, the Coordination Council's constituent agencies have studied water quality throughout Georgia. The study has revealed that governmental investments have brought about improvements in particular cities, though the inadequacy of water quality remains a serious challenge. "In fact, we have already activated every resource available, firstly in relation to water quality. The agencies of the Coordination Council were assigned to study the quality of level in Georgia's regions where have implemented various projects and made investments, and where we see drastic improvements in water quality, which is commendable. However, there are certain regions where this issue remains a problem. And that means that must channel additional investments into these regions to solve this issue fundamentally," Mamuka Bakhtadze said. Prime Minister's Press Office
