Today, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with Japanese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Tarō Asō in Tokyo.
The conversation focused on the high level of bilateral political and people-to-people relations, and commitment was expressed to developing economic ties in the same vein. As it was pointed out, the Georgia-Japan Business Forum will significantly boost this process, along with the newly signed Agreement on Insuring Export and Investment, this document poised to encourage Japanese investments in Georgia.
The parties welcomed the successful completion of the work on the main body of the bilateral investment agreement.

The dialogue emphasized Georgia's beneficial business environment and commended the country's advancement to 6th position in the Doing Business index from the World Bank. The Prime Minister described the importance of Georgia's integration into global economy and the country's transport, logistics, energy, tourism, and IT potential. According to Mamuka Bakhtadze, Japan exemplifies a strong-willed nation overcoming difficulties and achieving success.
The parties also discussed Georgia-Homeland of Wine, an exhibition hosted by Tokyo to celebrate Georgian viniculture and history. The parties pointed out that the event will further raise Japan's awareness about Georgia as the most ancient cradle of wine, and will further cement people-to-people contacts.
