PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA AND PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN DISCUSS JOINT PROJECTS OF STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE

Strategic partnership of Georgia and Azerbaijan, joint transport and infrastructure projects of regional importance, prospects of deepened economic links have been discussed by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia and Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan at the meeting held today within the scope of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Parties discussed all the main directions of bilateral relations.

Attention was paid to the prospect of greater growth of trade and further intensification of business links between the Georgian and Azerbaijani businesses.

Focus was made on the significance of developed transport infrastructure and potential of cargo shipment from Central Asia, which exists both in Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Prime Minister of Georgia and President of Azerbaijan talked about the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) Project, along with the transit potential of the countries and need of its greater utilization. It was noted that Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project has an instrumental role to play towards this end.

Meeting from the Georgian side was attended by David Zalkaliani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
